The Back Story

These are the second items Cogan Valley Machine produced for the Gravely tractor after the 106 blade spindle shaft. While working at an aviation engine manufacturing company, I learned of the special qualities of the valve guides used in their air cooled engines. Based on that design, the Cogan Valley Machine version was developed for the Gravely air cooled "T" head engine used in the model "L" tractor. These aviation quality valve guides have been serving the Gravely community for over 5 years.

• These valve guides are manufactured to aviation specs for quality.
• The exhaust guide is made from a porous aviation brass to resist gaulding.
• The intake guide is made of leaded steel for the same purpose.
• One each packaged as a set.

Occasionally a valve guide will become loose in the block casting. In many cases, an oversize guide can solve the problem.

We Put Them To The Test:

I use these guides in my own machine and after many years of hard running, they show little to no wear. I also have a set like these in a high performance pulling tractor and they still work well after 4 very hard seasons.
