Gravely never produced a kick stand for the Model "L" tractor.
The Back Story
Over the past year, we have been asked several times if we could also make a kick stand fashioned to fit the Model "L" tractors after the introduction of our reproduction Walker kick stand that has not been produced for nearly 20 years. The Walker kick stands was a dealer option for only the Kohler powered machine at the time of production, but is no longer available. Our model "L" kick stand is fashioned to operate in a similar manner as our Kohler engine unit with spring action. The most evident difference to the Kohler engine model kick stand is the design of the legs and feet. The model "L" design needed to split apart to avoid whatever is attached to the ball hitch or the steering sulky when in the "up" position.
This Cogan Model "L" Spring Operated Kick Stand was introduced at the 2010 Dave Antram's Gravely Swap Meet and was met with high interest and brisk sales.

Model "L" 2 Wheeled Tractor Spring Operated Kick Stand
This Cogan Kick Stand is designed to mount on the rear hitch weldment under the Gravely T-head engine using the same two bolt holes as the two vertical support straps to allow you to support the weight of the machine while changing attachments. Two longer required bolts are supplied with the stand for mounting and to form the hinge point.
This Cogan Kick Stand is easier to use than the standard Gravely supplied drop leg, if your machine is so equipped, because you do not need to reach down to unlock and re-lock the lock bolt to drop the leg. You just use your foot to push the kick stand down and a spring does the work to position the stand. To bring the stand up to the rest position, you just move the machine forward a little while dipping the handle bars. The spring pulls the stand the remainder of the way back up to the rest position tucked under the hitch. The shape of the kick stand leg is designed to wrap under the drop leg lug if equipped on the later issued hitch.
These kick stands are supplied painted black, but can be painted over by you to match your machine if you desire. We decided that since the kick stand would get a lot of abuse from the ground, black might be the best paint color choice.
